Welcome to my site! Here you will find (eventually) my collection of links to all sorts of interesting and innovative garment construction diaries.

Currently, I am working on the structure of the site, and I have started to add some links.

Garment construction diaries for any fashion that was in vogue earlier than 1990.


Contemporary

For our purposes, I will consider “contemporary” any items that one would wear to any of the following:

  1. work (nurses’ scrubs, business suits, etc.)
  2. parties (proms, black-tie or gala affairs, formal parties, semi-formal parties, cocktail parties, anniversary parties, birthday parties and the like.)
  3. religious events (baptism/christenings, communion, confirmation, weddings, renewal of vows, etc.)
  4. every-day garments (bathrobes, pajamas, lingerie, swimsuits, etc.)

The only criteria is that the garment be a non-historical or fantasy creation. Please note that there may be some cases, as in a Renaissance-themed wedding, where a dress diary may fall under two or more categories, but every effort will be made to avoid cross-listing in the interest of clarity.


Fantasy

Any garment inspired by mythology, classical or modern literature, and/or popular culture that is considered by me to be fictional/fantasy in nature. In other words, if it represents something that exists outside the realm of what historians or scientists consider actual events or creatures, past or present, it’s fantasy.
